Health Promotion

We are keen to promote health and to prevent illness where possible. You may therefore be asked to answer a health promotion sheet or be invited to attend a health promotion activity such as blood pressure check, advice about diet or exercise etc. You can also book online to see our Health Trainer at the Practice.

Repeat Prescriptions

These are agreed by the Doctors and regularly checked.

Please allow up to 48 hours (two working days) in order to process your request.

Telephone requests will not be accepted unless the Doctors have given prior permission, you are housebound, a cancer patient or a carer.

Requests must be made by ticking your prescription slip. It is important that your medication is reviewed by your GP; normally every 12 months. The reception team can print this out for you of you do not have it.

You will be informed when you are due for a review.


Test results

If you have been referred for a blood test by the GP or the Nurse, we will contact once the results are in if there are any abnormalities on the blood tests, and if the GP/ Nurse have requested a repeat test.

If your results are normal we will not contact you, however the result will be recorded in your records.

Please telephone between 13.00 - 15.00 for results.

Please note reception staff can only give you your normal results over the telephone.


Telephone Advice

You may ring the Surgery to ask the Doctor for advice.

Please do this after 09.00am and please be prepared to be free for the doctor to contact you. Most times the Doctors will endeavour to call you within the hour. However, please do try to keep your phone free throughout the day as we can not give a specific time.

Out of Hours Service

If you require a Doctor urgently and surgery is closed, please ring 111 the Out of Hours service. Where you will discuss your symptoms with a trained advisor. The advisor will be able to provide the appropriate advice or direct you to the appropriate out of hour services following an assessment.

You can also attend a walk-in centre; you do not need an appointment.

 Please note Smithdown Children's Walk-in Centre is closed Christmas Day.

Dental emergency and out-of-hours care

If you need urgent treatment, please contact your usual dental practice, as they may be able to see you or direct you to an urgent dental care service. If you do not have a regular dentist, contact NHS 111 for advice on where you can get urgent care.

The cost of emergency dental treatment is currently £18.80.
